The Technicolor CineStyle™ is a Picture Style (profile) for Canon EOS DSLR cameras that optimizes the dynamic range in the image by leveraging the capabilities of the Canon imaging chipset.
About time ! most peeps have been using the canons profiler to install more useful video settings using kodachrome or flat cinema profiles for example created by users in the know of many a forum .. but its nice for the official guys to bring their flat curves to the table ,all this means if you’ve been living under a rock – that you can get more info out of your crushed video than you normally would from canons defaults therefore enabling detailed postgrading/manipulating ;trouble is can you still find that canon utility disc that came with your camera!!..(leaves desk to go search the loft…)

Learn how to prepare your Canon DSLR footage for editing and color correction by up-converting 8-Bit compressed colorspace clips to true 10-bit 4:2:2 or 12-bit 4:4:4.

NOTE:

This tutorial demonstrates the cleaning of one clip from beginning to end. When working on a long form project, edit your film and then work on your final clips at the end. You can use FirstLight to apply film curves while editing since it’s real time and non destructive to give feel to your shots.

…and backup your original files!

Software used:

- Cineform NeoHD
- HDlink
- FirstLight
- Neat Video plugin
- After Effects

sometimes all you want to do is find out what a picture and a given focal lengh/camerabody/ lens size will look like in a given scenario and see the image close up in at 1-1 lets say as it should be ; you know maybe you want that 50mm sigma `1.4 you’ve seen in online at a nice price but want to see it being used by people and not just read some techno-babble review which is not always required ,some real world photos using the lens etc etc ..well… check out this site..

Pixel-Peeper is a service that allows you to pixel-peep (even at 100% of the original size for given camera) at thousands of full-size photos in our database, therefore allowing you to check a lens, digital SLR camera, or a digicam before buying one.

you to give an ff-ing care about your expensive camera for a change !

current firmware doesnt work on c1/2/3 modes with sound on manual mode(liveview)

canons site says ‘

Recently we have discovered a malfunction that occurs with Firmware Version 2.0.3, in which the manual recording levels for C1/C2/C3 are changed and the camera becomes unable to record audio if the power is turned off (or if Auto power off takes effect) after registering “Sound Recording: Manual” in the camera user settings.
We apologize very sincerely for the inconvenience, but we are going to stop making this firmware available for download. For customers who have already updated to the new firmware, when using the camera with the mode dial set to C1/C2/C3, please either set the sound recording settings to Auto.
We are currently preparing firmware that will correct this malfunction. As soon as those preparations have been completed, we will let you know on this Web site. In the meantime, we apologize for the inconvenience this represents, but please wait until the fixed firmware is ready.’

BLAH canon very BLAH

And so it has finally appeared . After waiting so long for a measly update it’s almost an anti-climax to what was and could’ve been a really special announcment (where’s 720p60fps? HD output not 480p on monitoring I can go on canon?..) so here lies my reason for this cut and paste job as I can’t be bothered …
Canonrumours take it away :

Firmware Version 2.0.3 incorporates five enhancements to the movie function and a fix to the manual sensor cleaning function of the EOS 5D Mark II camera.

Adds or changes the following movie frame rates.

NTSC:
1920×1080 : 30 fps (changed – actual 29.97 fps)
1920×1080 : 24 fps (added – actual 23.976 fps)
640×480 : 30 fps (changed – actual 29.97 fps)

PAL:
1920×1080 : 25 fps (added – actual 25.0 fps)
1920×1080 : 24 fps (added – actual 23.976 fps)
640×480 : 25 fps (added – actual 25.0 fps)

Other Functions
Adds a function for manually adjusting the sound recording level (64 levels).

Adds a histogram display (brightness or RGB) for shooting movies in manual exposure.

Adds shutter-priority AE mode (Tv) and aperture-priority AE (Av) mode to the exposure modes for shooting movies.

Changes the audio sampling frequency from 44.1 KHz to 48 KHz.

Fixes a phenomenon where communication between the camera and the attached lens is sometimes interrupted after manual sensor cleaning. (This phenomenon only affects units with Firmware Version 1.2.4.)
